Getting a job in the fashion industry
Part 4: What to bring to your job interview
Your very best portfolio
If you're looking for a design-related job, your portfolio should be your prized posession! If you haven't spent time putting it together employers might begin to wonder just how serious you are, and if it's disorganised this can lead to people to make assumptions about the way you work. If you're going for a particular job with a particular company, try to mould your portfolio around that company, highlighting any work that best reflects the company's style or image.
Your resume - plus spares
Always bring a spare copy of your resume and any written references that you have. Make sure you have a copy that you can leave with the interviewer or panel, rather than asking for it to be photocopied.
The extra details
One thing that goes down really well is to think about the brand and sketch up some ideas and styles that might work for them. It doesn't have to be anything too formal but it just shows that you're really serious and passionate about the job, and that you understand the brand. These are little things that will make someone stand out.
